Tour the Versace Mansion for Decorating Ideas

I'm HUGE on mansion decorating! So let's take a tour of the Versace Mansion and get some decorating tips for your home!

Visit the VictoriaLarsen.Com website for fun, beautiful, elegant ways and products to make your home the home of your dreams!

Gianni Versace was one of the worlds most revered visionaries and one of the people I admire most for his taste, his sense of elegance and his design concepts.

Designing everything from beauty products to home furnishings, Gianni Versace made a name for himself that will go on through decades upon decades.

A visit to his mansion gives you a clear picture of the man and his love for art. Soak in these pictures as you would water in to a sponge. The walls and room design of his mansion will inspire you to re-create some of these beautiful works of art in your own home.

Exterior Located at 1116 Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, Florida, the Versace Mansion from the exterior gives no clue as to it's elegant interior designed by the famed artist.

Versace_foyer Enter the home of Versace through the foyer and notice the exquisite detailed artwork on the left wall. Lining the entry are large Italian pots and vases (could you do the same with resin models off a website or from your local home store?).

The mural of a greek god is so faint and un-detailed, that it would be easy to replicate by using an enlarging projector and a statue photo. Done in all one color (pale brown), even shadowing would be a cinch!

Yellowroom The "Yellow Room" features architectural detailing next to the ceiling (gee, cast plaster ornaments from molds would work for this treatment!), tone on tone decorating with deep gold walls, gold area rug with a contrasting blue design which creates the feeling of "warmth" and "comfort".

Versacebath2His personal bath features dark blue murals on the ceiling that bring in the colors of baroque artwork on the entrance walls. Hand painted elements on the back wall are used to frame a very large ornamental urn. (Ah, he loved urns as much as I do!).

Versacebed2 Gianni shows us all that you can fill your home with murals in every room if you choose! One of the guest bedrooms has a full rose trellis mural on the ceiling.

As I looked in to the study, I noticed the columns on the back wall. Hey! Don't those look really close to the ones I did in our master bedroom? So thats what it would look like if I did them side by side.... hmmmm (re-thinking the bedroom wall design).Versacestudy

The medallion on the ceiling is just breathtaking and could be achieved with any large stencil design shaped in to a circle pattern.

As you can tell, whether you have loads of money or very little, you can use color, art, molded plaster, plaster stencils and mural stencils to create very dramatic, lovely rooms.

This was one of my favorite photos of the mansion interior. A circular entrance to a room is flanked by two pale blue painted panels that feature a large vertical design with medallions at the top. What a lovely entrance this becomes because of that. (Not to mention the custom work on the marble floor).
So the next time you are thinking about decorating, take a tip from Versace and go murals!
